Forest guardians and tree-beings probably make an appearance somewhere in the lore, if only because they're like a treasure chest full of goodies from an artistic perspective.
The swirly structure of trunks lends itself well to musculature. Just google "bristlecone pine," and:
I mean come on. It's like being handed a huge part of the hard work on a silver platter.
Bark and leaves can be just about any color/texture. There are all kinds of mossy, botanical, hangy bits that you can decorate them with. They can be craggy and imposing, or soft-lined and covered in ferns.

Now. Making ones for other biomes, that could be interesting. Forest guardians are easy mode, but what about meadow guardians? Foothill guardians? River guardians?
